The Thule Group is proud to announce that Outside Magazine has named the Thule Roof Rack as one of the most influential pieces of gear of all time. The list, which was posted on OutsideOnline.com, included 99 other notable products by Jeep, DuPont and Swiss Army. All of that said, by Outside Magazine, to have played an important role in the evolution of an active life.

We've compiled a lot of lists here over the years. But assembling our first-ever list of the most important gear proved to be a monumental task. We started by casting a wide net, and compiled a working list of all the outdoor gear, from rubber rafts to pit zips to SUPs, that fundamentally altered the way we recreate outdoors, either by ushering in an entirely new sport (like snowboarding) or radically changing the way we were currently doing something (think helmet cams), remarked Sam Moulton, Outside's Executive Editor.

The story, which appeared on OutsideOnline.com on Monday, May 21, 2012, featured 100 products which helped to shape the outdoor world by helping people to more readily enjoy the great outdoors. The print edition of Outside America's leading active-lifestyle and adventure-travel magazine has a monthly circulation of over 675,000 in the US and produces market specific versions in Italy, Brazil, China and Sweden. OutsideOnline.com receives over 400,000+ unique visitors per month.

Being included in this exclusive list is a credit to our decades of innovative product development and the passion of all the people behind the Thule products our consumer relies on, and our brand which consumers trust. It proves that Thule can revolutionize quality, functionality and not the least innovative product design. This challenges us to stay at the forefront and to continuously create exciting products within the outdoor category. We are honored and esteemed to be named says Peter Barker, the Thule Group UK Business Manager.
