Thule Go Epic Contest Winner Announced

Kite surfer, Matthew Elsasser, from the United States, has been named the winner of Thule’s video competition “Go Epic with Thule”. The competition was designed to allow  all active people, who participate in a number of action sports, to easily compete against each other by sharing their videos of their own sports adventure.  As the winner of the competition, Matthew Elsasser, will have the joy and honor to be the next sidekick to Thule Crew member and professional kite surfer Niccolo Porcella in his next video.

OnSeptember 30, 2013 Thule, together with Epic TV, one of the world’s largest on-line extreme sports channels, launched the competition for lovers of kite surfing, surfing, snowboarding, skiing, biking and adventure racing, “Go Epic with Thule”.

“After ten weeks of competition we’ve received more than 200 amateur and semiprofessional videos from 28 countries capturing the participants adventure racing, biking, kite surfing, skiing, snowboarding and surfing. We feel this  was tremendous success,” says Tina Liselius, Event and Sponsorship Manager. “Matthew Elsasser was elected as the overall and final winner by our jury and I am sure he will have a fantastic experience together with Niccolo by being his sidekick,” ends Tina.

Matthew is a passionate kite surfer from the USA competing on the KSP tour. Always on the move kiting, surfing, biking and trying to do anything and everything outside. The  20 years old is originally from Oregon and is, nowStudying in California. Watch his winning video on www.epicthule.com.

Throughout the competition, the Thule Crew – the Thule team of adventurers and ambassadors – have been looking for action sports talents who love tough challenges and great adventures to co-star in their next video. “Go Epic with Thule” became the chance for any action sport lover to become that sidekick they have always dreamt of. The Thule Crew members have actively been participating in the competition; as part of the jury as well as sharing their own material.

Biking was the most popular category with 61 participating videos. Skiing second and the other four (kite surfing, snowboarding, surfing and adventure racing) were all close in ranking.

Most competitors came from the US (70) followed by Sweden (36) and the UK (19).
